Amb. Ummu Kalthum Muhammad
Ummu Kalthum Muhammad Rabiu is a Nigerian humanitarian leader, peacebuilder, and social development expert, and the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Kalthum Foundation for Peace, an organization she established to promote peacebuilding, community resilience, women’s empowerment, and sustainable development in conflict-affected communities. With a strong academic and practical foundation in social work and humanitarian action, she has remained at the forefront of grassroots peace initiatives in North-East Nigeria and beyond.
She holds an MBA in Humanitarian Activities, a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Social Works, and a Diploma in Social Works, and has benefited from international academic exposure at Aldersgate University, Philippines, as well as professional training in Nigeria. Her leadership approach combines academic insight with community-driven solutions, enabling her to design and implement impactful programs that address violent extremism, social cohesion, and girl-child education.
As Founder and CEO, Ummu Kalthum provides strategic direction for the Kalthum Foundation for Peace, leading advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and program implementation. Her work is strengthened by specialized training and certifications from the United States Institute of Peace and the Institute for Crisis Resolution, Peacebuilding and Conciliation (ICRPC), including a Certificate in Community Resilience in partnership with Search for Common Ground. Earlier in her career, she served as a Class Teacher at G.R.A Primary School, Maiduguri, an experience that shaped her long-term commitment to education and youth development.
Ummu Kalthum is also a respected speaker and thought leader who has presented at national and international forums, including a summit in Accra, Ghana, where she spoke on the challenges of girl-child education, as well as seminars on the role of women in countering violent extremism. Her contributions to peace and humanitarian service have earned her notable recognitions, including the Peace Ambassador Award from the Universal Peace Federation, South Korea, and awards of honor from academic bodies and the Nigerian Army’s Operation Lafiya Dole.
Multilingual and culturally grounded, she is fluent in English, Fulfulde, and Hausa, with basic proficiency in French, Kanuri, and Arabic. Her core competencies include negotiation, coordination, persuasion, and social perception, supported by a strong service orientation and passion for community development. Through visionary leadership and unwavering commitment, Ummu Kalthum Muhammad Rabiu continues to advance peace, resilience, and inclusive development across vulnerable communities.
